The Executive Massage

“Do more with less” is the mantra of many corporations today. As a result, many dedicated employees are under tremendous stress to meet shorter deadlines, to be more creative and to be sharper focused. The demands produce distress, burnout, headaches/migraines, numerous health problems, deterioration in quality of life and work performance. It is estimated that up to 90% of illness can be traced back to stress.

Stress is the #1 reason people seek a massage according to the American Massage Association. The National Institutes of Health, a subdivision of the US National Library of Medicine stores info on clinical studies in their PubMed database. To date, there have been over 477 studies conducted on massage’s ability to reduce stress. The medical community is recognizing more & more that massage has an important role in the wellness solution.

How can you do more than just cope with it?

There are many types of massage for a variety of challenges. I utilize the Stress Massage Protocol developed at the Touch Research Institute of the University of Miami plus I enhance it with Myofascial Release (deep energy/trauma and muscle release) and Integrated Energy (IE) to clear and open the mind, body and spirit. When needed, I incorporate Orthopedic, Trigger Point, and Reciprocal Inhibition techniques which helps the Executive recover from long air flights and the resulting aching constricted muscles including low back pain. I always include KAM (Kinesthetic Awareness Movement) which helps to release tension and stimulate the growth of new neural pathways. The Executive Massage that I developed focuses on relaxing, unwinding and energizing the body, mind, and spirit. It is a complete body massage for 60-90 minutes.

In addition, I address the muscles of the head, neck and shoulders that often constrict as a result of tension. The old adage of having the “weight of the world on your shoulders” can be reflected in the pain a person experiences on many levels. Techniques that I learned while obtaining my Medical Massage Practitioner Certification incorporate various approaches to address what I find during the observation and assessment of the upper body and total body regions. When the mind and upper body are first relaxed, I have found that the rest of the body responds more quickly and deeply to additional body work such as therapeutic and preventative measures for Migraine Headaches, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Sciatica flare-ups.

Also in the Executive Massage, additional attention is focused on unwinding & energizing the mind for increased clarity and creativity. I utilize techniques that I learned while gaining clinical experience at the world renowned John Barnes Eastern Myofascial Release (MFR) Treatment Center. One example is a MFR sphenoid technique that causes the plates in the skull to move which in turn causes the dura that covers the brain and spinal column to move and in turn massages the central nervous system. Brow sweeping (IE) and reflexology stimulation of the ears, hands, and feet further clear and open the mind. Shiatsu point stimulation enhances the completeness and effectiveness of the Executive Massage.

The CBD Miracle Salve that I make and utilize is based upon a CBD salve developed by a highly regarded Medical Massage Practitioner with over 30 years of experience. It is made from the highest quality of pure, organic essential oils and virgin, organic, unrefined Shea butter to help eliminate muscle pain and further relax the mind and body.

According to a 2013 review published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, studies have found CBD to possess the following medical properties:

Medical Properties of CBDEffects
Antiemetic Reduces nausea and vomiting
Anticonvulsant Suppresses seizure activity
Antipsychotic Combats psychosis disorders
Anti-inflammatory Combats inflammatory disorders
Anti-oxidant Combats neurodegenerative disorders
Anti-tumoral/Anti-cancer Combats tumor and cancer cells
Anxiolytic/Anti-depressant Combats anxiety and depression disorders

U.S. government-sponsored research at the National Institute of Mental Health determined that THC and CBD both protect brain cells from the effects of stroke and acute head injuries. Drawing upon this research, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services secured a patent, titled “Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants,” in 2003. The patent asserted that THC and CBD “are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.”

CBD has been shown to shrink malignant tumorsimprove insulin sensitivityquell anxiety, and ease chronic pain. The CBD oil that I use is not made from marijuana. It is legal in all 50 states with no prescription needed. It is not meant to diagnose or cure any disease. This product is not approved or reguated by the FDA

My massage environment incorporates Deep Theta music to allow the mind to ease more effectively into a deep therapeutic relaxed state. Many times, clients fall asleep during my Executive Massage session which reflects the fact that so many executives are sleep deprived. I later hear back from clients that their sleep cycles improve tremendously and their clarity of thought improves. Insurmountable problems are now approached with new insight and their stress diminishes. One Engineering Science professor from Cornell University summarized his experience, “Not only did I feel better and truly felt more relaxed but I could think more clearly in a way I haven’t been able to in years”.

The outcome is peak performance potential for the Executive.
